Howe opens its 2026 football season Friday, Aug. 28 on the road at Alvord.

The Bulldogs are ranked No. 882 in Texas by On3, with Alvord at No. 732 in an opener between two similarly sized programs.

The first month

Howe returns home Sept. 4 to host Bonham, ranked No. 1,016, then travels to Pilot Point, ranked No. 440, on Sept. 11. Pilot Point is among the stronger opponents on a nine-game regular-season schedule.

Friday nights in a small town

Howe is one of the smallest communities in our coverage area, and the football schedule is one of the few fixed points on the fall calendar. Nine Friday nights, most of them against schools of comparable size, with the season opening on the road.

Kickoff at Alvord is Friday, Aug. 28. Rankings are On3's preseason Texas rankings.
