Nashville Takes Control in Opening Frame
The Nashville Predators secured their second win of the young season with a narrow 2-1 victory over the visiting Dallas Stars at Bridgestone Arena on Saturday. The game was decided entirely within the opening period, as Nashville erased an early deficit to take control and hold on for the final score.
Dallas struck first in the opening frame when Miro Heiskanen found the back of the net with a wrist shot. The goal, his first of the season, was assisted by Mikko Rantanen and Wyatt Johnston, giving the Stars a 1-0 lead.
Stamkos and Hoglander Flip the Script
Nashville responded quickly to tie the game. Steven Stamkos, earning his first point of the year, snapped home a shot that was assisted by Ryan O'Reilly and Roman Josi. The goal leveled the score at 1-1 and shifted the momentum in Nashville’s favor.
The Predators did not wait long to reclaim the lead. Just moments later, Nils Hoglander deflected a puck past the Dallas goaltender for his first career goal. Assists came from Jack Ahcan and Alexander Kerfoot, pushing the score to 1-2. That late first-period surge proved to be the difference in the contest.
No Further Scoring in Subsequent Periods
After the explosive start, the game settled into a defensive struggle. Neither team managed to score in the second or third periods. The Dallas Stars were held scoreless for the remainder of the game, unable to find the equalizer they needed. Nashville’s defense and goaltending kept the Stars at bay, preserving the one-goal advantage.
