Spence's Historic Night
The decisive runs for the Houston Astros came from the bat of Yulieski Gurriel Jr., who hit his first three home runs of his career in a single game. The away team defeated the Sacramento Athletics 7-5 on Friday, September 25, at Sutter Health Park. Gurriel's performance was the centerpiece of a slugfest that saw eight total home runs exchanged between the two clubs. The Astros improved their record to 79-80, while the Athletics fell to 63-96.
Scoring Sequence

Late Inning Drama
The seventh inning saw Gurriel hit his second homer of the night to right center, extending the Astros' lead to 5-4. The eighth inning featured back-and-forth action. Walker hit a solo home run to left center to make it 6-4, but Gelof answered with a solo homer to left center, narrowing the gap to 6-5. In the bottom of the ninth, Gurriel delivered the final blow with a solo home run to right, securing the 7-5 victory for Houston.
Pitching Performance
For the Astros, Peter Lambert took the loss, pitching 2.2 innings and allowing six hits and four earned runs while striking out six batters. He issued two walks. Miguel Ullola earned the win, pitching 3.0 innings and allowing one hit and no earned runs. He struck out three batters and walked none. For the Athletics, Mason Barnett pitched 6.0 innings, allowing four hits and four earned runs. He struck out eight batters and issued two walks. Scott Blewett took the loss, pitching 1.0 inning and allowing three hits and one earned run.
