Deciding Runs
The Houston Astros secured a 6-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Daikin Park. The game's turning point arrived in the third inning when Houston produced a four-run rally to take the lead. Daulton Varsho led the surge with a triple to center that drove in Alvarez and Paredes.
Walker then singled to center to bring Varsho home, extending the Astros' advantage to 5-2 before Paredes added another run on a double to left. In total, the Astros scored four runs in the third inning to establish a cushion they would not relinquish.
Early Game Action
Houston actually opened the scoring first. In the top of the first inning, Jose Altuve hit a home run to left field, traveling 353 feet, which drove in Paredes. This gave the home team an early 2-0 lead.
Chicago responded in the bottom of the second inning. Rogers reached on an infield single to shortstop, scoring C. Montgomery. Shortly after, Antonacci singled to left, allowing Peters to score and tying the game at 2-2.
The White Sox briefly led 3-2 after Paredes doubled to left in the third, scoring Wade Jr., but Houston's subsequent rally erased that deficit quickly.
