Late Inning Surge
The Houston Astros relied on a dramatic ninth-inning rally to secure a 6-4 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday. After trailing for most of the contest, Houston capitalized on defensive miscues and timely hitting to erase the deficit and take the lead in Anaheim.
The Angels struck first, taking a 2-0 advantage in the top of the first inning. Neto scored after a sacrifice fly by Schanuel, followed by another run when Grissom singled home Trout. The Los Angeles offense expanded their lead in the third inning.
Grissom launched a 395-foot home run to left center, his second extra-base hit of the game. Adell added an RBI double shortly after, pushing the Angels ahead 4-0.
Houston began chipping away at the gap in the fourth inning when Trammell homered to center field, cutting the deficit to 4-1. The Astros narrowed it further in the eighth inning as Alvarez singled home Peña, making the score 4-2 heading into the final frame.
Errors Define Finale
The game turned on a flurry of activity in the bottom of the ninth. With the Angels leading 4-2, Spence grounded into a fielder's choice to second, but Trammell scored on an error. The play continued as Allen advanced to third on another error by second baseman Grissom.
Houston tied the game at 4-4 when Paredes was hit by a pitch, driving in Spence. The Angels challenged the call, but it was upheld. The tying run was followed by a walk to Wade Jr., which brought Peña home to give Houston a 5-4 lead. That challenge was also upheld by replay review.
