Astros Break Open Sixth
The Houston Astros secured a 7-4 victory over the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium on Thursday, driven by a decisive offensive explosion in the sixth inning. Houston’s scoring tally jumped from 4-3 to 6-3 within that frame, providing the cushion needed to hold off the home team’s late rally.
The game began with the Astros taking an early lead. In the top of the first inning, Grissom doubled to left field, allowing Neto and Trout to score. Adell followed with a single to left, bringing Grissom home to make it 3-0.
The Angels answered in the second inning when Diaz homered to left center, a 425-foot shot that cut the deficit to 3-1. Houston regained momentum in the third inning as Peña homered to center field, a 401-foot blast that extended the lead to 4-1.
Pitching Duel and Late Rally
Hayden Wesneski took the mound for Houston, pitching 5.2 innings and allowing seven hits and three earned runs while striking out four batters. His performance earned him the win, improving his record to 1-0.
The Angels’ starting pitcher, Grayson Rodriguez, worked five innings, giving up two earned runs and recording six strikeouts, but ultimately took the loss after being charged with the runs in the sixth.
The Angels began to chip away at the lead in the eighth inning. Adell hit a sacrifice fly to right field, allowing Schanuel to score and making the game 6-4. However, Houston’s bullpen closed the door effectively.
