The New York Mets defeated the Houston Astros 6-2 on Saturday at Citi Field, securing their 61st win of the season. The decisive offensive surge came in the fifth inning when Francisco Lindor and Jose Benge crossed the plate on a triple by Juan Soto. This play put the Mets ahead 4-1, a lead they would not relinquish in the final three innings.

The Astros managed only two runs in response, both coming in the eighth inning.

For the Astros, Cristian Javier took the loss, pitching four and one-third innings while allowing six hits and three earned runs. He struck out four batters and did not walk anyone. Enyel De Los Santos pitched two innings, allowing one hit and no earned runs while striking out two.

Kai-Wei Teng pitched one inning, allowing three hits and two earned runs. Bennett Sousa pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing one hit and one earned run while walking two.
