Clement breaks tie in 10th
Ernie Clement put Toronto ahead with a two-run homer in the top of the 10th inning, sending the Blue Jays to a 5-4 win over the Houston Astros on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, at Daikin Park. His 391-foot drive to left scored Urías and supplied Toronto’s first lead.
Houston answered in the bottom of the inning when Alvarez singled to right, scoring Peña, but Alvarez was out stretching at second. Houston challenged the play, and the call on the field was upheld. Chase Lee allowed one hit in one inning and earned his first save.
Astros build early lead
The Astros took control in the bottom of the third inning. Altuve opened the scoring with a 401-foot homer to left. Walker then doubled to left to score Varsho, and Wade Jr. followed with a single to center that brought in Walker for a 3-0 Houston lead.
Jameson Taillon was charged with three earned runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts in four innings for Toronto.
Toronto answers in the sixth
Toronto’s only scoring before extra innings came in the sixth. Straw scored on Okamoto’s single to center, cutting Houston’s lead to 3-1. Sánchez then tied the game with a 398-foot homer to right, scoring Okamoto and making it 3-3.
