Major League Soccer's All-Stars are gearing up for a match against Liga MX All-Stars at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. The game is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

This match continues the tradition of pitting the two prominent North American leagues against each other, rather than featuring teams from within a single league. The event occurs during a busy MLS season, which resumed on July 16 after a break for the World Cup held across North America.

Charlotte FC head coach Dean Smith has curated the MLS roster, which consists of 29 players. This lineup was formed through a combination of fan votes, Smith's selections, and picks made by MLS commissioner Don Garber. Notable players include Son Heung-min and Thomas Muller, as well as Toronto FC's Richie Laryea and three members from the Vancouver Whitecaps.

In the lead-up to the match, there were some last-minute changes to the roster. Initially, players such as Lionel Messi and Rodrigo De Paul were included but were later replaced for various reasons, with Messi excused for rest.

On the Liga MX side, 24 players have been named, including four from Toluca, who recently won the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup. Cruz Azul has the most representatives with five players, while CF Pachuca has four.

The match is part of a week-long celebration in Charlotte, featuring a fan festival and various related events. This exhibition highlights the growing connection between MLS and Liga MX, as players frequently transfer between the two leagues and clubs often compete against each other in continental tournaments.

The timing of this match is significant for MLS, which has just resumed play after a lengthy pause. While teams are still adjusting to the restart, the break provided an opportunity for a high-profile event without conflicting schedules.

Charlotte's role as the host city underscores the league's expansion into new markets. Bank of America Stadium, home to both Charlotte FC and the NFL's Carolina Panthers, boasts a capacity that surpasses many soccer-specific venues, allowing for a larger audience to enjoy the match.
