City administrators in Howe are moving forward with a new commercial project designed to expand local shopping and dining options. The development, named Ponderosa Point, is situated at the northeast intersection of U.S. Highway 75 and Ponderosa Road.

The project is scheduled to include a Taco Bell restaurant and a Blue Spruce Market grocery store. City leaders describe the initiative as part of a broader strategy to increase the variety of services available to residents without altering the community's existing character.

City Administrator Monte Walker stated that the goal is to offer amenities comparable to those found in larger municipalities while preserving the area's small-town atmosphere. He emphasized the desire to maintain the local vibe as the city grows.

Officials anticipate that the new businesses will generate employment opportunities within the city limits. The administration hopes these jobs will encourage more residents to work locally rather than commuting elsewhere.

Construction on the site is projected to start in the coming months. Specific timelines for the opening of the individual stores have not been provided.
