Joe Milton showcased his skills in a recent game, helping the Dallas Cowboys secure a 34-13 win against the Arizona Cardinals. His performance was highlighted by two touchdown passes and a rushing touchdown, enhancing his competition for the backup quarterback position behind Dak Prescott.

Milton completed 9 of 13 passes for 176 yards, featuring a 53-yard touchdown pass to Jonathan Mingo and a 70-yard throw to Camden Brown, which set up a 1-yard touchdown run by Milton himself. Coach Brian Schottenheimer noted Milton's impressive control over the speed and touch of his throws, while also mentioning that the battle for the backup spot remains competitive.

The Cowboys established a solid lead, going into halftime at 24-6, with Jaydon Blue adding 75 rushing yards from 15 carries. Sam Howell, who previously started all games for Washington in 2023, completed 7 of 10 passes for 65 yards in the second half but was intercepted in the end zone.

Defensively, the Cowboys were effective early on, with Shavon Revel making an interception of a pass from Gardner Minshew that led to an early touchdown. The Cardinals faced setbacks, including two touchdowns called back due to penalties on receiver Rivaldo Fairweather. Coach Mike LaFleur remarked on the team's overall struggles during the game.

Injuries impacted both teams, with Cardinals safety Dadrion Taylor-Demerson leaving due to rib issues and Cowboys safety Julius Wood exiting with a concussion in the third quarter. As training camp continues, Milton's performance keeps him in contention for a roster spot with the Cowboys.
