Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway has been cleared by the team's medical staff and is set to return against Colorado at McLane Stadium in Waco. The Bears and Buffaloes both have 2-1 records entering the Big 12 opener. The game is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. Central and will air on ESPN2.
Lagway has been out since Baylor's Sept. 5 game with an ankle injury. Coach Dave Aranda forecast his return earlier in the week. Nate Bennett, who started the past two games, will return to the backup role. Bennett completed 75% of his passes for 567 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions in those games, while adding 15 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Baylor will have wide receiver Jadon Porter, defensive back Devin Turner and defensive tackle Hosea Wheeler available. Porter and Turner had been probable, and Wheeler was later upgraded from questionable. Safety Jacob Redding, cornerback Jamarion Richardson, defensive lineman Devonte Tezino, offensive lineman Cayden Tone and wide receiver Ashton Jones are unavailable.
Colorado has ruled out Danny Scudero, Preston Ashley, Colby Johnson, Vili Taufatofua, Demetrius Hunter and Charlie Williams. Xavier Payne remains a game-time decision. Scudero and Williams have 94 combined yards from scrimmage and one touchdown this season.
