North Texas Mean Green Announces Tayven Jackson as Starting Quarterback

Tayven Jackson has been named the starting quarterback for North Texas ahead of their opener.

Tayven Jackson has been designated as the starting quarterback for the North Texas Mean Green as they gear up to compete against Indiana University on September 5, 2026. Jackson, a former player for the Hoosiers, has an extensive college football background.

In 2023-24, he played in 13 games for Indiana, achieving a completion percentage of 61.2% with a total of six touchdowns and six interceptions. Prior to that, he had limited opportunities at Tennessee in 2022.

After transferring to the University of Central Florida in 2025, Jackson completed 63.5% of his passes for 2,151 yards, recording ten touchdowns and eight interceptions, which contributed to the Knights' overall record of 5-7.

Before his college career, Jackson excelled at Center Grove High School, where he threw for 4,813 yards and 47 touchdowns between 2018 and 2021, guiding his team to an undefeated championship in Class 6A. Tayven Jackson is also the brother of Trayce Jackson-Davis, who was named Indiana Mr. Basketball in 2019 and currently plays for the Toronto Raptors.

The matchup between North Texas and Indiana will start at noon and be aired on Fox.
