Baylor has lost another starting defender for the season, with coach Dave Aranda confirming that defensive lineman Devonte Tezino suffered a leg injury Saturday against Prairie View A&M. Safety Jacob Redding is the other Baylor starter identified as out for the year. SicEm365 reported the injury and Aranda’s comments.
Tezino was hurt on Baylor’s second offensive play from scrimmage when a Prairie View A&M offensive lineman made a cut block. He called for medical assistance and was later taken from the field by cart. Aranda said the fifth-year senior from Killeen had been playing the best football of his career.
Tezino began the season with two sacks and a tipped pass that became an interception against Auburn. After dealing with injuries last fall, he played in all 12 games and started seven, finishing with 24 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one pass breakup. In 29 games at Baylor, he has made 56 tackles.
Baylor has depth on its defensive line despite losing two starters for the season.
