The Texans will not have wide receiver Nico Collins against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday after he was ruled out with a hamstring injury. Collins missed practice during the week and has now been sidelined for Houston’s past two games. The injury is a Grade 1 strain sustained during practice last week. Sports Yahoo reported the decision, citing NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Houston and Indianapolis are both 0-2 entering the matchup. The Texans scored six points in a 20-6 defeat against Cincinnati. Dalton Schultz may see an expanded role after catching 12 of 14 passes directed to him for 140 yards in that game. Eight of those catches came in the fourth quarter. Schultz has 16 receptions totaling 175 yards over Houston’s first two games.
Houston could also use more tight ends or increase its reliance on the running game. David Montgomery and Woody Marks had limited results against Cincinnati, as the Texans’ running backs produced 1.5 yards per carry. Indianapolis has given up 354 rushing yards at a rate of 5.4 yards per carry through two games.
Houston’s available wide receivers are Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson, Jaylin Noel and Jared Wayne. No further information was provided about Collins’ recovery timeline.
