The Dallas Cowboys have completed a trade sending offensive tackle Nate Thomas to the Houston Texans for a seventh-round selection in the 2027 NFL Draft. Thomas, 25, was picked by the Cowboys in the seventh round of the 2024 draft after a year on injured reserve.
He played in all 17 games during the 2025 season, starting four, and has primarily operated as a left tackle while also serving as a swing tackle.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer had indicated that Thomas would compete for the starting left tackle role against teammate Tyler Guyton. However, as training camp progressed, Guyton was retained in the first-team offense due to concerns about Thomas's consistency. To strengthen their offensive line, the Cowboys have also brought in Broderick Jones from the Pittsburgh Steelers, who can fill both left and right tackle positions.
With the NFL's 53-man roster deadline approaching, the Cowboys' offensive tackle lineup now features Tyler Guyton, Terence Steele, Broderick Jones, and fourth-round draft pick Drew Shelton. The team has yet to provide further details on how this trade will impact their roster and overall strategy.
