The NFL has not previously scheduled an international journey that long without a postgame bye, according to the report. Baltimore's trip from its home city will cover approximately 4,781 miles.
The game is set for 5:25 p.m. local time in Rio, one hour ahead of Eastern Time. Based on the schedule described by CBS Sports, the teams may not leave Brazil until after midnight. Dallas' return flight is expected to take more than 10 hours, potentially putting the team back in Dallas near noon on Monday.
Both teams are scheduled to play in Week 4, with Dallas visiting the Houston Texans and Baltimore hosting the Tennessee Titans.
Other teams with comparable travel received extra rest. The Los Angeles Rams traveled 5,456 miles to London last season and had a bye, while the Rams and San Francisco 49ers traveled more than 7,800 miles to Australia for a Week 1 game and had at least 10 days before their next games. Earlier Brazil games were also played in Week 1.
Denver's 4,670-mile London trip in Week 6 last season was the previous longest without a bye. CBS Sports also cited Miami's 2021 trip of at least 4,400 miles, followed by a loss to Jacksonville in London and a later comeback from a double-digit deficit.
