The Dallas Cowboys have welcomed back quarterback Joe Milton III to their practice squad after his initial release, which was made to accommodate running back Emari Demercado. Despite not being claimed by other teams during the waiver process, Milton chose to return to the Cowboys, where he had received interest from other practice squads.
Dak Prescott, the Cowboys' star quarterback, shared his enthusiasm regarding Milton's return, noting the positive influence he has on the team and the quarterback room. Prescott acknowledged Milton's growth over the offseason and the significance of supporting him as he adjusts to losing the QB2 position, which he held in the previous season. "It means a lot.

Milton, a sixth-round pick by the New England Patriots in 2024, was traded to the Cowboys before the 2025 season. His preseason performance was notable, completing 29 of 43 passes for 378 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions, showing marked improvement from the previous season.
With his return, Milton aims to build on his preseason success and further develop his skills as a quarterback, with Prescott's support being vital as he enters his third season with the team.
