TCU has dismissed safety Jacob Fields from its football team, just under two weeks before the season opener against North Carolina. This decision follows a physical altercation that reportedly occurred in the locker room on August 13, as detailed in the TCU crime and fire log.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that the incident was classified as an aggravated assault. Sources indicated that Fields was involved in a confrontation with an offensive player and had previously expressed feeling targeted by teammates through insults and threats, including being spat on.
Before the altercation, Fields had made several attempts to communicate with the coaching staff about the rising tensions but did not receive any responses. Fields transferred to TCU from Louisiana Tech this offseason and was anticipated to start at free safety for the Horned Frogs.
