His previous season was marred by a challenging game against LSU, during which he experienced a significant setback, throwing five interceptions.
This led to a decline in his mental health, prompting his mother, Nikita, to come to his aid.
When she arrived, Lagway was emotionally distressed, sharing feelings of abandonment and hopelessness. Nikita offered him reassurance, stating, "God's got you," while Lagway expressed his despair, saying, "I think God forgot about me." Following a tough 2025 season filled with injuries and errors, he made the decision to transfer back to Texas, where he has family ties and a connection to Baylor.
