The Houston Texans are facing challenges with their wide receiver lineup as they approach the season opener. Tank Dell's status is uncertain, with reports indicating he may not be ready to play in the first game of the season.

Dell began his practice participation in the second week of training camp, but he has only engaged in individual drills and a few team exercises. Recently, he has not been seen practicing in front of the media, which has raised additional concerns about his availability. According to two league sources, Dell has not suffered a setback; however, he is not yet able to practice consistently.

With the final preseason game approaching, it seems unlikely that he will be able to participate.

In light of Dell's uncertain status, the Texans may opt to include seven wide receivers on their 53-man roster while they await his full recovery. The team is also dealing with the impact of Jayden Higgins' ACL injury, which has complicated the search for the No. 2 wide receiver position opposite Nico Collins.

Candidates vying for this role include Xavier Hutchinson, who showed promise last season, and Jaylin Noel, recognized for his playmaking skills. While there is optimism that Dell can return to form, his timeline remains unclear.
