The Houston Texans have made a significant addition to their roster by trading for wide receiver Kayshon Boutte from the New England Patriots. Boutte announced the trade via social media prior to any official statements from either team. Reports suggest that the Texans exchanged safety Jaylen Reed along with a seventh-round draft pick for 2028 to acquire Boutte.
This move follows the injury of Texans' wide receiver Jayden Higgins, who sustained a torn ACL during a joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders. Higgins was anticipated to play a crucial role alongside star receiver Nico Collins. In his rookie season, he achieved 41 receptions for 525 yards and six touchdowns.
Kayshon Boutte, selected in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, had a strong performance last season, recording 33 catches for 551 yards and scoring six touchdowns. The Patriots had an excess of wide receivers after acquiring A.J. Brown in June and signing Romeo Doubs to a substantial four-year contract worth $68 million.
In addition to Boutte, the Texans also signed veteran wide receivers Zay Jones and Sterling Shepard over the weekend to address the gap left by Higgins' injury. Details regarding the Texans' strategy for the upcoming season remain unclear.
