Ali Gaye, a defensive end for the Houston Texans, has suffered a serious knee injury during a joint practice with the Carolina Panthers. An MRI has confirmed the severity of the injury, which may require a medical procedure and will lead to a lengthy recovery, as reported by KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson on August 27.
At 27 years old, Gaye, who is 6 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 265 pounds, was brought onto the Texans' roster as an undrafted free agent in 2023 following his time with the Tennessee Titans. Throughout his career, he has accumulated nine tackles and one sack. His role was expected to provide additional support behind established players Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter.
This injury compounds the challenges for the Texans, who are already dealing with a growing list of injuries among their defensive ends. Gaye is now anticipated to be sidelined for the entire 2026 season, raising concerns about the team's defensive line depth as they aim for a competitive season.
