The Houston Texans have provided an update on offensive tackle Braden Smith, who is anticipated to miss several weeks because of a plantar fascia injury in his foot. This news follows an injury scare that occurred during a practice session with the Carolina Panthers, as reported by KPRC 2's Aaron Wilson on August 27.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirmed that although Smith's injury raises some concern, it is not severe and should not lead to a lengthy absence. According to Sleeper's Jacob Barzilla, the Texans will likely require Smith's services at some point this season.

Smith joined the Texans in the offseason on a two-year deal valued at $20 million, with the intention of securing the starting right tackle role. His injury, however, adds to the uncertainty surrounding the team's offensive line.

Trent Brown, a former Pro Bowl player, is currently filling in at right tackle, and the team is pleased with the progress of Blake Fisher, who has been performing well this preseason.

Further updates regarding Smith's recovery and the Texans' offensive line are expected as the season nears.
