The Houston Texans have announced the signing of running back Deuce Vaughn, previously with the Denver Broncos. Vaughn, who is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 185 pounds, spent the entire 2025 season on the Broncos' practice squad. After joining the Broncos in September of the previous year, he re-signed on a reserve/future contract in January but was released in May.
Following his departure from Denver, Vaughn played for the UFL's Orlando Storm before returning to the NFL with the Texans.
To make room for Vaughn, the Texans waived wide receiver Juwann Winfree, who also had a stint with the Broncos. The Texans additionally conducted workouts with former Denver receiver Josh Reynolds and running back Blake Watson, as reported by the NFL's transaction wire.
Currently, four former Broncos practice squad players remain free agents after their contracts expired in February. These include quarterback Ben DiNucci, tight ends Marcedes Lewis and Patrick Murtagh, and defensive back Delarrin Turner-Yell. Recently, defensive lineman Jonathan Harris worked out for the Minnesota Vikings. Further details regarding Vaughn's role with the Texans or Winfree's future plans were not disclosed.
