Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins will miss the game against the Cincinnati Bengals because of a Grade 1 hamstring injury, prompting the team to divide his offensive role among several players. Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson and Jaylin Noel are among the receivers who could see additional opportunities. Jayden Higgins will also be unavailable after sustaining a season-ending ACL injury.
Collins was hurt during Wednesday’s practice and did not take part in either of Houston’s last two practices that week. The Texans listed him as out on their final injury report. His status for the Week 3 meeting with the Indianapolis Colts has not been determined, and Aaron Wilson reported that it is still being assessed.
In Houston’s season-opening 36-31 defeat against Buffalo, Collins made seven catches for 75 receiving yards and scored a touchdown. He has been one of the team’s leading offensive contributors during the last three seasons. C.J. Stroud threw passes to 11 players in that opener as the Texans look for their first victory. No additional information about Collins’ return was provided.
