Quarterback DJ Lagway has made the decision to transfer to Baylor after a difficult season at the University of Florida. Lagway, previously recognized as the No. 3 ranked player in his class, entered Florida with significant expectations as the successor to Graham Mertz.

After Mertz's injury during the sixth game, Lagway took over as the starting quarterback, leading the Gators to a 5-1 record in the final six games, which included key wins against ranked opponents.

However, Lagway's second season did not go as planned. He faced injuries and encountered major setbacks, including a notable loss to South Florida, marking Florida's first defeat to the Bulls. A particularly challenging game against LSU, where Lagway threw five interceptions, contributed to the Gators' disappointing overall record of 4-8, ultimately resulting in the firing of head coach Billy Napier.

In search of a fresh start, Lagway entered the Transfer Portal and has now signed with Baylor, where he will compete under head coach Dave Aranda. Former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow commented on Lagway's move, suggesting that a change in environment could help him thrive.

Lagway's debut as a Bear will be against Auburn, a significant matchup for both him and Coach Aranda as they look to improve from last season's performance. This game is scheduled to take place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, starting at 3:30 PM (ET) on ABC.
