The Texas Rangers overcame an early deficit to secure a 4-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night, relying on timely hitting in extra innings. The game remained tied at 1-1 through nine frames before Texas broke the deadlock in the top of the tenth.
Brandon Nimmo opened the inning with a single to right field, driving in Leody Taverde to give the Rangers a 2-1 advantage. Josh Jung followed with another single to right, scoring both Nimmo and Seager to extend the lead to 4-1.
Early Deficit and Pitching Efforts
Los Angeles took the early lead in the first inning when Mike Trout homered to center field, a 418-foot shot that put the Angels ahead 1-0. Texas answered in the fourth inning as Adolis García singled to left, allowing Marcus Semien to score and tie the game at 1-1.
The Rangers' offense struggled to generate further momentum against Angels starter Reid Detmers, who pitched six innings, allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out six batters despite walking four.
Texas starters MacKenzie Gore worked 5.1 innings for the Rangers, giving up four hits and one earned run while recording nine strikeouts. The Texas bullpen maintained the tie through the ninth inning with efficient work from Tyler Alexander, Chase Silseth, Robby Ahlstrom, Peyton Gray, and Jacob Latz, who recorded the save by pitching a scoreless tenth frame.
Gray earned the win, improving his record to 6-0, while Latz notched his 23rd save.
