Duran delivers late
Ezequiel Duran's ground-rule double in the ninth inning scored Burger and pushed the Texas Rangers past the San Francisco Giants 5-4 on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
Duran drove in four of Texas' five runs with three run-scoring hits, the last one coming after San Francisco had tied the game in the top of the ninth. The final scoring play left the Rangers with a one-run win in front of 26,959.
Early lead holds until seventh
Texas built a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Nimmo doubled to right to score Pederson and move Seager to third. Duran followed with a single to right, bringing in Seager and moving Nimmo to third.
MacKenzie Gore pitched six scoreless innings for Texas, allowing three hits, walking three and striking out four. Blade Tidwell worked five innings for San Francisco, giving up six hits and two earned runs with one walk and three strikeouts.
The Giants pulled even in the top of the seventh. Basabe hit the game's only home run, a 377-foot shot to left that scored Gilbert and made it 2-2. Chase Silseth was charged with two earned runs in two-thirds of an inning, allowing one hit and one walk.
