Key Offensive Moments
Ketel Marte provided the spark for the Arizona Diamondbacks, driving in three runs with two separate doubles during a decisive fifth inning. Marte’s first double to left field scored Vargas and Waldschmidt, turning a 1-1 tie into a 3-1 lead. He later crossed home plate on a Moreno single before doubling again in the sixth to score Waldschmidt, extending the advantage.
Carroll and Arenado added power to the Diamondbacks’ output. Carroll launched a 382-foot home run to left-center field in the sixth inning, scoring Moreno to make it 8-1. Arenado followed with a 371-foot homer to left, capping the scoring at 9-1.
Texas Rangers managed only one run, which came in the fifth inning when Vargas hit a ground-rule double to score Lawlar. Pederson had earlier doubled to right, allowing Burger to score and putting the Rangers ahead 1-0 temporarily before Arizona took control.
Pitching Performances
Jordan Montgomery started for Texas but struggled to contain the Diamondbacks’ lineup over two scoreless innings with one strikeout. He was followed by MacKenzie Gore, who took the loss after allowing four earned runs on five hits and three walks in four innings while striking out two.
Merrill Kelly pitched 4.1 innings for Arizona, giving up one earned run on two hits and three walks while recording three strikeouts. Kevin Ginkel secured the win with a perfect 0.2 inning, striking out none but allowing no hits or walks. Justin Martinez recorded the save with a hitless 1.0-inning outing featuring three strikeouts.
