The Athletics secured a 5-2 victory over the Texas Rangers on Sunday, Aug. 16, at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento. The final score of 5-2 was driven by four home runs from the A's lineup. The Rangers, who visited Sacramento, managed only two runs in the contest. Attendance for the game was 7,343.

The Rangers took an early lead in the second inning when Cody Bradford allowed a home run to right center by Burger, who hit the ball 396 feet. The A's responded immediately in the same inning. Luis Medina recorded the save, pitching one inning with one hit, no earned runs, and two strikeouts. For the Rangers, Jakob Junis took the loss. He pitched one inning, allowing two hits and two earned runs with one strikeout. Cody Bradford started for Texas, pitching four innings, giving up eight hits and two earned runs, walking one, and striking out four. Chase Silseth and Tyler Alexander each pitched one inning without allowing a hit or an earned run. Peyton Gray pitched one-third of an inning, allowing three hits and one earned run.
