McNeil, Butler Power Athletics Past Rangers 8-3 in Sacramento

Late Surge Decides Game

The Texas Rangers led 3-0 after the first inning, but the Athletics erased that deficit and then pulled away in the sixth and seventh innings to take an 8-3 victory at Sutter Health Park. Jeff McNeil was the standout performer, going 4-for-5 with a home run and a double. The win improved the Athletics' record to 48-74, while the Rangers fell to 60-63.

Early Lead, Late Response

The Rangers took an early lead in the top of the first inning. Julio Rodriguez doubled to right field, allowing Adolis Garcia, Corey Seager, and Josh Soderstrom to score. The Athletics tied the game 3-3 in the sixth inning when Matty Burger homered to center field, driving in two runs.

McNeil then extended the lead with a solo home run to right field. Butler added to the lead with a solo home run to center field in the seventh inning.

Final Inning Push

The Athletics added two more runs in the eighth inning. First, a ground ball to the catcher resulted in an error that allowed one run to score. Then, McNeil doubled to right field, driving in two more runs to make it 8-3. The final score was Athletics 8, Rangers 3.

Pitching Performance

For the Athletics, Gage Jump pitched 5.1 innings, allowing three earned runs and four walks. Luis Medina recorded the win, pitching 1.1 innings without allowing a hit or a run. Drew Rom and Elvis Alvarado both recorded a hold.

Hogan Harris pitched the final inning without allowing a hit. For the Rangers, Kumar Rocker started, pitching five innings and allowing three earned runs. Chase Silseth took the loss, pitching one inning and allowing one earned run.

Robby Ahlstrom, Tyler Alexander, and Marco Gonzales also pitched for the Rangers.
