Sale's Shutout Performance
Chris Sale delivered a masterful pitching performance to lead the Atlanta Braves to a 15-1 victory over the Texas Rangers on Friday at Truist Park. Sale earned the win, improving his record to 10-6, by allowing just two hits and no earned runs across seven innings while striking out six batters. He did not issue a single walk during his outing.
Victor Mederos completed the shutout for Atlanta, pitching two innings in relief. He allowed three hits and one earned run while recording one strikeout. The Braves' offense was relentless, scoring runs in multiple innings to build an insurmountable lead.
Early Runs Set the Tone
The Braves loaded the bases early against Rangers starter Cal Quantrill. In the second inning, a single by Baldwin drove in Smith, followed by another single from Albies that scored Riley. Baldwin advanced to second base during the sequence.
Atlanta expanded its lead significantly in the fourth inning. Baldwin hit a 419-foot home run to center field, driving in two more runs to make it 5-0. Olson immediately followed with a 420-foot homer to right, pushing the score to 6-0.
Jarvis added another run in the fifth inning with a double to right, scoring Smith, and Baldwin later in the same inning singled to center to bring Jarvis home, making it 8-0.
