Businesses and groups that want a booth at this year's Howe ISD Fall Festival have until Oct. 7, to turn in a vendor form, the district said in a reminder posted to its website.

The festival is set for Saturday, Oct. 17, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. in the Howe Middle School parking lot. The district is promoting it as a family evening of food and games and has invited what it calls the whole Bulldog community.

Vendors can apply by scanning the QR code on the district's festival flyer or through an application link the district has posted with its announcements on the Howe ISD live feed.

Bidding on baskets

The night will also include bidding on donated baskets, and the district has been previewing some of them online. One package lets the winner's child put on a firefighter's hat and pull the school fire alarm lever. Another offers a reserved VIP spot for school events and car-line pickup, with the student delivered to the family's car.

Other dates for Howe families

The district also has a college-application week on the October calendar:

  • Free college applications: From Oct. 12 to 18, seniors can use ApplyTexas to send applications to participating public colleges and universities in Texas with no application fee. Counselors have asked seniors to work through the college application checklist handed out at their last meeting.
