Drivers heading north on US 75 from Howe now enter a new construction zone at FM 902, where the next stretch of the highway's widening to Sherman got under way this week.
The segment runs from FM 902 in Howe to FM 1417 in Sherman and will turn the four-lane highway into a six-lane divided road. KTEN reported that barriers are going up and put the cost at $155.5 million, with the job expected to take about four years.
According to TxDOT's Paris District road report for the week of Oct. 5, two mainlanes in each direction are to stay open during the day, with possible lane closures at night and occasional frontage road closures. The mainlane speed limit through the work zone drops to 65 mph.
Closer to town, the earlier widening job from the Collin County line has already switched Howe's frontage roads to one-way traffic, the same TxDOT report says.
Questions can go to TxDOT's Sherman Area Office at (903) 892-6529. More detail on the bridges and schedule is in our [Sherman edition](https://sherman.city/article/work-begins-on-six-lane-us-75-segment-between-howe-and-sherman).
