An exhibit of sculptures and sketches by Savy Flores, a 2020 Austin College graduate, is now on display at the college in Sherman, the school announced Monday.

The show, titled *Ecotheoretical*, is hosted by the Austin College Art Department in the Dennis Gallery of the Betsy Dennis Forster Art Complex. It runs through Dec. 11. The gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and visits can also be arranged by appointment. The announcement did not mention an admission charge.

Most of the pieces were finished within the past two years, according to the college, but many grew out of ideas Flores began exploring as a student there.

Flores said she settled on the title while looking for a term like "speculative biology" that also fit within ecology. Ecotheory, she found, deals more with how people relate to the environments around them, and she kept the word because her work keeps returning to human traits, physical and conceptual, even when its subjects are animals or invented creatures.

"I like to study the fascinations of the real world while also looking beyond what's real and imagining what could be," Flores said in the college's release. She said she hopes visitors will picture how her creations might fit into the world.

Austin College, founded in 1849, is a private liberal arts college of about 1,300 students.
