Bazzana’s Offensive Showcase
Travis Bazzana delivered a historic offensive performance on Saturday, hitting three home runs to lead the Cleveland Guardians to an 8-1 victory over the Houston Astros. The game, played at Daikin Park in front of 32,678 spectators, showcased Bazzana’s power from the start, as he opened the scoring in the first inning with a 382-foot home run to right center.
Bazzana’s dominance continued in the third inning when he scored on a two-run home run by teammate Manzardo. However, his most impactful moment came in the fifth inning. Bazzana launched a 406-foot home run to right center, driving in two additional runs to extend Cleveland’s lead to 6-1. His night concluded in the seventh inning with a single to right field that scored another run, bringing his total contribution to four runs and three home runs.
Guardians Pitching Dominance
Cleveland’s pitching staff held the Astros scoreless after the second inning, limiting Houston’s offense to just one run. Joey Cantillo earned the win for the Guardians, pitching eight innings and allowing only one earned run on four hits while striking out nine batters. Matt Festa closed out the game with a perfect ninth inning, recording two strikeouts.
The Astros’ starting pitcher, Spencer Arrighetti, struggled early and often. He lasted six innings, giving up six hits and six earned runs while striking out eight batters. The bullpen provided little relief, with Nate Pearson allowing two earned runs in one inning. AJ Blubaugh and Bryan Abreu pitched scoreless innings to preserve the final margin, but the damage had already been done.
