Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway is expected to miss the team’s game against Louisiana Tech as he recovers from an ankle injury sustained in the Bears’ season-opening 17-16 loss to Auburn. He did not play in Baylor’s following game, a 44-3 victory over Prairie View.
Pete Nakos of On3 Sports reported that Lagway is “on track to return” for Baylor’s Big 12 opener against Colorado on Sept. 26. The game is scheduled to feature Colorado coach Deion Sanders, but the report did not confirm that Lagway will play.
Sources previously told On3 Sports that the junior quarterback suffered a high-ankle sprain. Baylor coach Dave Aranda had described Lagway as day-to-day earlier in the week. Baylor is scheduled to play Louisiana Tech before beginning conference play against Colorado. ClutchPoints reported that the timing of Lagway’s return remains uncertain beyond the indication that he is progressing toward the Colorado game.
