Both Baylor and Louisiana Tech will use backup quarterbacks when they meet Saturday, with Nate Bennett making his second straight start for the Bears and Trey Kukuk taking the opening assignment for the Bulldogs.
Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway will miss the game because of an ankle injury. Lagway, a transfer from Florida, was hurt in Baylor’s season-opening loss to Auburn. He also missed last week’s game against Prairie View A&M after being listed as doubtful for the Louisiana Tech matchup.
Bennett threw for 314 yards and accounted for four touchdowns against Prairie View A&M, while also throwing two interceptions. Louisiana Tech starter Blake Baker is unavailable because of a hand injury, leading to Kukuk’s start. ESPN.com reported the quarterback updates.
