The Dallas Cowboys have officially signed linebacker Von Miller to a one-year contract, marking a significant addition to their defense as they prepare for the upcoming season. This move comes amid a broader revamp of the Cowboys' defensive lineup, which includes about six new starters and a new defensive coordinator, Christian Parker.
Miller, who recorded nine sacks in 2025 with the Washington Commanders, aims to leverage his extensive experience in Dallas.
Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer expressed his confidence in Miller's skills, highlighting his sharp football intellect and quick burst of speed. Schottenheimer noted that while Miller may not participate in every play, his presence is expected to improve the team's overall defensive capabilities.
"He understands the game; the football intellect is top tier," Schottenheimer stated, emphasizing Miller's understanding of angles and his diverse range of moves.
In the previous season, Miller played in 17 games for the Commanders, starting three and logging 420 snaps, which represented 37 percent of the team's defensive plays. In Dallas, he is anticipated to have a similar role, likely coming in during crucial situations such as third downs.
