Dallas safety P.J. Locke left the Cowboys’ home opener after being injured during Washington’s first possession, adding to the team’s defensive absences against the Commanders. Malik Hooker had already been ruled out because of a forearm injury.
Locke moved toward a tackle and then appeared to limp before making contact, according to a FOX replay. Training staff assisted him off the field, and reports cited by Sports Illustrated said he later reached the locker room without assistance. The injury happened in Locke’s second game with Dallas.
The Cowboys signed Locke to a one-year, $4 million deal during the offseason. He spent his first six NFL seasons with the Denver Broncos. Locke made two tackles in Dallas’ season-opening loss to the New York Giants. Sports Illustrated described the injury report as breaking news that could receive additional updates.
