Trent Brown can now earn up to $2.5 million in 2026 playtime incentives under his revised Houston Texans contract, up from the previous $1.5 million maximum. The agreement provides five separate $500,000 bonuses, linked to playing-time marks of 50%, 55%, 60%, 65% and 70%. Spotrac’s Michael Ginnitti disclosed the updated terms in a Sept. 16 post on X.

The added incentives do not change Brown’s salary-cap charge or the money he initially receives, according to Over The Cap’s Troy Chapman. The bonuses were added to the original package. Houston re-signed Brown during the 2026 offseason on a one-year, $5.5 million deal.

Brown played seven regular-season games and one playoff game for Houston in 2025, while injuries affected both the start and finish of his season. After the Texans signed Braden Smith to a two-year, $20 million contract, Smith went on injured reserve following injuries and did not become the starter. Brown started at right tackle in Week 1 after remaining with Houston during its offseason program.

He has not started every regular-season game since 2022, when he played for the New England Patriots. Brown won a Super Bowl with New England in 2018, when Texans general manager Nick Caserio was an executive there. Pro Football Focus ranked Brown Houston’s third-highest-rated offensive lineman and sixth-best pass blocker in Week 1, behind Aireontae Ersery and Evan Brown.

The 2015 seventh-round pick has also played for the 49ers, Bengals and Raiders, starting 104 of 111 career games. Further details were not provided.
