The University of Houston Football team has announced that Shadre Hurst, an offensive guard, has been honored with a selection to the Preseason AP All-American First-Team. This recognition was revealed on Tuesday, showcasing Hurst's outstanding skills on the field.
Earlier this month, he was also featured on the Preseason Watch Lists for both the Lombardi Trophy and the Outland Trophy. Hurst has a notable background with head coach Willie Fritz and offensive line coach Eman Naghavi, stemming from their previous collaboration at Tulane, where he achieved All-American status and received All-AAC accolades in The American Conference.
Since 2023, Hurst has maintained an impressive 80.0 pass block grade, placing him second among active FBS offensive linemen. He has demonstrated reliability by allowing only one sack over more than 1,200 passing snaps. In 2025, he was acknowledged as the highest graded offensive lineman in the American Athletic Conference and ranked sixth nationally among guards by Pro Football Focus (PFF).
During his time at Tulane, he played a pivotal role in securing three conference championships from 2022 to 2025, with a remarkable record of just one sack allowed across four seasons.
The Cougars are scheduled to kick off their new college football season on September 5, hosting Oregon State at TDECU Stadium, with the game starting at 11 a.m.
