Nate Bennett could make another start for Baylor when the Bears face Louisiana Tech in Week 3, with DJ Lagway listed as doubtful because of an ankle sprain. Lagway missed Baylor’s victory over Prairie View A&M after appearing in the season-opening defeat against Auburn. He had joined Baylor after transferring from Florida.

Bennett, a junior, directed the Prairie View game and finished with three touchdown passes on 26 completions in 34 attempts, totaling 314 passing yards. He added a rushing touchdown and 13 yards on the ground, but also threw two interceptions. Edward Griffin is listed behind him as QB2, followed by Quinn Murphy at QB3.

Coach Dave Aranda said Lagway took part in a Monday walkthrough and that his availability would depend on his practice performance. The injury is not projected to sideline Lagway for a month or more, although it remains uncertain whether he could play in an emergency against Louisiana Tech.

On3’s Pete Nakos reported that Baylor is hoping Lagway returns for its Big 12 opener against Colorado next Saturday.
