TCU’s 2027 recruiting class now includes North Crowley offensive tackle Gabriel Brooks, who announced Sept. 17 that he had switched his commitment from Stephen F. Austin. Brooks said conversations with his family and personal prayer influenced the decision, which he also characterized as a way to stay near home.

Brooks, listed at 6-foot-5 and 265 pounds, had mainly attracted offers from Football Championship Subdivision schools. Those included Stephen F. Austin and Southern University. TCU became his first Football Bowl Subdivision offer, and Brooks selected the chance to compete in a Power Four conference.

The lineman has helped North Crowley begin the season with a 3-0 record. The Panthers have defeated Aledo, Southlake Carroll and Summer Creek, which is from the Houston area. North Crowley’s next game is set for 7 p.m. Friday at Duncanville.

Brooks is the 19th commitment in TCU’s 2027 group. Sports.yahoo.com reported that the class stands 54th nationally and eighth in the Big 12.
