Houston has added rookie wide receiver Lewis Bond to its available players for the Texans' Week 2 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The move follows the elevation of George Odum, a veteran safety who also contributes on special teams.
The change comes as Nico Collins is set to miss the game. KPRC 2 reporter Aaron Wilson, citing a league source, said Collins has a Grade 1 hamstring injury and may also be sidelined for Houston's next game against the Indianapolis Colts. Wilson reported that the situation could still change.
Houston chose Bond in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL draft, using the 204th selection. The team released him while reducing its roster to 53 players, then placed him on the practice squad. Bond can be elevated twice more before the Texans must put him on the 53-man roster or select another player for the spot.
Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson, Jared Wayne and Jaylin Noel are expected to be ahead of Bond at receiver. NFL.com analyst Lance Zierlein previously described Bond as a player with dependable hands and contested-catch ability. Zierlein also cited difficulty creating separation against press and man coverage, and said motion or bunch sets might provide ways for him to help.
Houston has not disclosed how much Bond will play against Cincinnati.
