Eovaldi’s Strikeout Surge
Nathan Eovaldi anchored the Texas Rangers’ pitching effort with nine strikeouts over five innings, securing the win in a 10-4 victory over the Detroit Tigers. Eovaldi (9-7) allowed three earned runs on six hits while walking one batter. He was supported by a bullpen that kept Detroit off the board for the final five innings. Tyler Alexander, Peyton Gray, and Robby Ahlstrom each recorded a hold, with Cole Winn and Gavin Collyer closing out the game by surrendering just two combined hits and one earned run.
Early Tigers Lead
Detroit took an early 3-0 lead in the second inning. Díaz homered to left center, followed by a run-scoring walk from Jung and a sacrifice fly by Duran that brought Lopez home. The Tigers extended their advantage to 4-0 in the fourth inning when Jung doubled and Lopez scored, followed by Duran’s single that brought Jung home.

The Rangers began chipping away at the deficit in the fifth inning. Keith homered to right center, cutting the lead to 4-3. Lee then hit a two-run homer to left center, putting Texas ahead 5-4. Smith added another solo home run to right in the same inning, extending the Rangers’ lead to 6-4. The offense continued to pile on in the seventh. Osuna singled to left, scoring Carter, and Díaz moved to second. Lopez followed with a single to right, driving in Díaz. Smith then reached on an infield single to shortstop, scoring Osuna to make it 9-3.
Closing Out the Game
Malgeri singled to center in the eighth, scoring McKinstry to make it 9-4. Carter then homered to center, sealing the 10-4 victory. Detroit’s pitching staff struggled, with Framber Valdez taking the loss after allowing five earned runs in five innings. Beau Brieske, Drew Sommers, Kenley Jansen, and Kyle Finnegan combined to give up the remaining runs. The Rangers improved to 45-43, while the Tigers fell to 38-50. The game was played at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, with an attendance of 33,450.
