Deciding Runs in the 10th
The Texas Rangers defeated the Los Angeles Angels 2-1 on Saturday, August 22, at Globe Life Field in Arlington. In the top of the 10th, the Angels took a 1-0 lead when Siri scored on a double to left field by Guzman. The Rangers immediately responded in the bottom half of the inning. Langford hit a double to right field, allowing Carter to cross the plate and tie the game at 1-1. The decisive moment arrived when Duran reached on an infield single to third. Langford then scored on a throwing error by third baseman Guzman, giving the home team the 2-1 victory. Nimmo advanced to second base during this play. There were no home runs hit by either team during the contest.
Pitching Performance
Tyler Alexander earned the win in his first appearance of the game. He pitched one inning, allowing one hit and no earned runs while walking one batter and recording two strikeouts. His record improved to 4-2. For the Angels, Ben Joyce took the loss in his first appearance of the game. He pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing two hits and no earned runs while walking one batter and striking out one. His record fell to 0-1 with one blown save. The starting pitchers set a strong tone for the first six frames. MacKenzie Gore of the Rangers pitched six scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out seven batters. Reid Detmers of the Angels also pitched six scoreless innings, allowing six hits and one walk while striking out five batters.
