Decisive Moments

The Texas Rangers secured a 3-2 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre on Sunday, driven by critical offensive production in the final two innings. Will Smith Lukes provided the turning point with a two-run home run in the eighth inning, while Josh Jung Kelenic added the insurance run in the ninth.

Lukes connected on a 404-foot shot to right field in the eighth, bringing Springer home and tying the game at 2-2. The Rangers took the lead moments later when Kelenic scored on a wild pitch by Toronto reliever Louis Varland in the ninth inning. The play, which also saw Kelenic score again on a subsequent wild pitch by Varland, proved to be the difference in the contest.

Early Scoring

Texas established an early advantage in the first inning when Andrew Ponson Pederson launched a 388-foot home run to right field, giving the Rangers a 1-0 lead. The Blue Jays answered in the sixth inning when Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Díaz singled to center field, allowing Brandon Nimmo to score and make it 2-1. However, Toronto was unable to extend their lead further as the Rangers' pitching staff held firm.

Cole Winn earned the win by pitching two innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out two.
