Benintendi's pivotal hit shifts momentum

Alex Bregman's teammate Benintendi provided the offensive spark the Chicago White Sox needed against Jacob deGrom. With the game tied 2-2 in the fifth inning, Benintendi doubled to right field, driving in Antonacci, Vargas, and Murakami to give Chicago a 5-2 lead.

The three-run blast effectively broke the back of deGrom's outing, who had pitched 4.2 innings but allowed five earned runs on seven hits before being pulled.

Rangers rally late, but fall short

The Texas Rangers attempted a comeback in the bottom of the seventh when Burger homered to left center, cutting the deficit to 5-3. However, Chicago's bullpen held firm through the middle innings, with Chris Murphy earning the win by pitching 1.1 scoreless frames, and Jordan Hicks and Seranthony Dominguez recording saves.

Ninth-inning explosion seals the win

Chicago's offense erupted for six runs in the top of the ninth inning, turning a 5-3 game into a 10-3 final. The inning began with Vargas doubling to left, scoring Antonacci. Later in the frame, Acuña singled to right, bringing home Murakami and Vargas.

Grichuk followed with a triple to left, scoring Acuña, and B. Montgomery doubled to left to complete the scoring with Grichuk crossing the plate.

Pitching and final stats

Erick Fedde started for Chicago, pitching 4.0 innings and striking out six batters while allowing two earned runs. Trevor Richards and Sean Newcomb closed out the game with scoreless innings. For Texas, Peyton Gray, Ben Peoples, and Robby Ahlstrom combined for 3.1 scoreless innings before Jose Corniell gave up five earned runs in one inning of work.

The White Sox improved their record to 53-46, while the Rangers fell to 50-50. The game was played at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, with an attendance of 28,506.
